boys and their toys

Asher is really into cars right now.  He got some in his Easter basket this year.  Do you think he was excited?

James is just as excited as he is finally getting into playing with real ‘boy toys’ and not baby toys anymore!  James can’t wait to buy Asher a race track for his bday!

It was so precious to watch Asher play with his little cousin, Caden. Even Caden, who is 8 months old, knew how to zoom the cars around!

Gosh, I love this little boy! He will be turning two is just a couple of weeks! He sure knows how to run me out though! I love this picture because this accurately portrays my little man. Just when you think you are posing for a sweet picture, he grabs your dangly earring and yanks! (Ow! That really hurt too!)

new Easter tradition?!?

After going through their baskets, the girls wanted to do the egg hunt in Grandpa’s front yard.

But this year, Grandpa wasn’t satisfied with just a normal egg hunt. This year, he bought a metal detector and thought it would be fun to hunt for coins that he hid throughout the whole lawn! The girls loved it! (Grandpa was secretly hoping that the girls might find his lost wedding ring, but to no avail!) Could this be a new Easter tradition?!?

Easter fun!

Remember the elusive bunny shot?  Well, I finally got one after we watched How to Train a Dragon on Saturday night! (Good movie, but a little scary for my girls)

Too bad Asher wasn’t in the picture!  It would of been

much funnier to see him scream cuter!

We always dye Easter eggs the night before too. We never do anything with them, but it’s still a fun activity for the girls!

Rilyn was so scared she would drop the eggs!
Wow!  We made a pink egg!

Easter morning we all get ready to go to church. We stayed in Temple at my parent’s house, so we went to church with them.

After church, the kids got to go through their Easter baskets!

Lots of art stuff and movies!  Thanks Grandma!
Asher is trying to figure out how to open this bunch of

lollipops!

More to come tomorrow!

a hunting we will go!

Happy Easter!  He is Risen!

Who doesn’t love celebrating spring and Easter with an egg hunt?!?  This year, on Saturday morning, The Austin Stone, our church, put on several egg hunts around Austin and one of them was at our neighborhood park!  It was so fun to put together with my good friend, Denise.  And, I was also privileged to get to share the Easter story from the Jesus Storybook Bible with the many neighborhood kids who came.  I busted out my flannel board that I inherited from my mom’s Sunday school teaching days.  It is totally 80’s, but the kids love it!

Asher wasn’t totally into it this year, but he didn’t know candy was inside the eggs either!

Go Ella!
This is me with my flannel board reading the Easter story from the Bible!

On your mark, get set, go Rilyn!
Here is Rilyn trying to race Levi.  If you know these two, this is the story of their relationship!

this was supposed to be the Easter bunny post

If you know me, you know once I have my mind set on something, and my expectations are not met, I am severely disappointed, to the point where it ruins my day (I know it’s bad, but it’s true, and I need Jesus!)  So imagine my disappointment when I drove up to the Highland Mall to have Asher visit the Easter bunny only to discover the bunny wasn’t there.  Now I know this mall is basically dead, but I thought Santa and Easter bunny’s at the mall were like peanut butter and jelly.  Grrrrrr.  I even brought my camera so I could capture Asher’s sheer terror when he sat on his lap.  Well, what am I, ‘Ms. Don’t Change the Plans on Me’ to do?  Expected outcome of the morning:  pictures of Asher with bunny.  Modified expectations of the morning:  pictures of Asher in the bluebonnets!  Yeah, that’s it!  I will find bluebonnets and I WILL get pictures today of Asher!  So, we drove halfway to Taylor and found a patch on the side of the farm road.  Asher was not thrilled when I stuck him in the middle of the patch which came up to his waist.  I think he had some sort of bluebonnet anxiety and felt trapped.  Oh well, I was going to get pictures so he had to deal.  Enjoy!

get me out!!!
help!
This picture cracks me up, because he sure changed his tune when he saw a car

drive past us!  He loves cars!  He is saying “Whoa!!!  Car!!!!”

watching the car drive down the road
Poor Asher, little does he know he has more bluebonnet pictures coming soon with

his sisters!

changing seasons

As the weather starts to change around Austin, life in the Paquette household will be changing too. (That sentence sounds way more serious than what this post is actually about!) For almost 6 years, we’ve had a crib in our house. I remember the day we bought it like it was yesterday, full of excitement and new parent nerves!  And now tomorrow, we will take it apart and move on to the next season of our life. It provided warmth, comfort, and safety for my three babies and I’m honestly sad to see it come down. (Now there are certainly some things about raising babies that I will NOT be sad to see go-I will throw a party when my last diaper is bought and I don’t have to carry around a diaper bag anymore!) Please humor me as I take a trip down memory lane with our beloved crib. But rest assured, our crib will ‘live’ with us still…we thankfully bought a convertible crib so it will be ‘reused’ as a full size big boy bed for our ‘baby’.

Rilyn’s nursery looked exactly like this but with the “Rilyn” over the crib.  🙂

what about Asher man?

I realized Asher has been neglected a little in my posts lately so here is what he’s up to!
He doesn’t know it yet, but he will grow to love soccer because of all the games he is about to go to! 🙂

Oma chasing him around the soccer fields!
And apparently he is into kissing his cousin.  This picture will come in handy one

day.  I have a feeling!  (Sorry James, I can’t not post this picture-it’s too funny!)

fishing in February with family

Uncle Ben, James’ brother, came to visit this weekend.  We enjoyed a beautiful day at the park and Ben was able to give the girls’ their first fishing lesson!  Nothing was caught, but Rilyn seemed to really enjoy throwing the line in and reeling it back!  Ella, well she just wanted to feed the duck her crackers!  What we love about Ben-he is such a kid at heart and the kids always have the best time with him!
