pouts at the patch

Asher and I will be going back to the pumpkin patch this month. He thinks he outsmarted me today. He ‘played me for a fool’ because his mommy didn’t get any decent pictures of him in the pumpkins. He will learn. You don’t mess with this scrapbooking mama. I will succeed. Next time I will be smarter too. Think pumpkin traps and maybe some candy.

Yes, that is a flying pumpkin in the air.

I gave Asher a little pumpkin trying to distract him enough

to elicit a smile, but he just called it an ‘apple’ and threw it.

More ‘Boys 101’ lessons for me.  They like to smear and splash

their hands in dirty puddles on the ground.

pumpkin patches of past

My kids aren’t being funny, I have no deep thoughts(or good ideas), and I haven’t been taking any pictures lately, so I have nothing really to blog about. But, James is gone, and I’m bored, so I’m going to humor myself. So, here you go…pumpkin patches from the past! (I’m trying to get myself psyched up for the big pumpkin patch photo shoot on Monday. It’s not going to be fun, but I will succeed!!!!!!!!)

peanuts are scary

As Asher was watching a Baby Faith video the other day, God Made Animals, he started crying.  I realized he was actually scared of an elephant and a peanut segment on the movie.  So naturally, the next day I told James about it and we videotaped him watching it.

rising to new levels part 2

Wish there didn’t have to be a sequel to the last post, but unfortunately there is.  I got a little brave as a mom and thought I could walk in front of Asher going up the stairs…oops.

From September 2009

Lesson learned. Like his last head bonk, just one month ago, I watched the goose egg rise and the blood come to the surface.  My poor baby boy.  As you can see, he wasn’t that hurt by the looks of his smile and started crying when I wouldn’t let him back up the stairs.  Men!  I just don’t understand them sometimes!

rising to new levels

This past weekend, my sister styled Asher’s hair in a faux-hawk.  James loved it and now requests for me to do it each day!  I’m not positive, but I think this faux-hawk style is making my sweet little 17 month old boy into a little stinker!  (Or maybe it’s just “boys will be boys” like James tells me, and I’m just not used to their odd behaviors!)

Anyway, it’s not just Asher’s hair that is rising to new levels!  I caught him doing all of this today!

Standing on my end table in the living room!
He has reached and opened the door knob to our room.

Now he is trying to figure out the backyard door!

Once again, standing on a table!

P.S. My girls never did this!

cousins

We visited Asher’s sweet cousin (and my adorable nephew!), Caden, yesterday.  I love that we live so close to each other and look forward to the day when Asher and Caden can play together!

family portraits

When I think of family portraits at this stage in my life, I cringe. I mean, try to get a 16 month toddler BOY to cooperate! Ugh! So, sometimes, you get pictures like this:

Asher may not be looking but I think it makes the picture more ‘artsy’
Another sure-fire way to get a decent family shot-grab your toddler by both hands and swing!!!!

college football fashion

We love our college football and are looking forward to it starting this weekend!  Since 2001, my parents have had Aggie football season tickets and we enjoy going to the games.  This year, I’m afraid the only thing I will have to look forward to is the fashion.  (See previous blog post for our preseason ranking.)

Oh, you didn’t know the Ags have a fashion line?  Well, let the modeling begin!

are you ready for some football?

According to the preseason rankings, Texas A&M apparently is not. I saw one poll ranking us #71 out of 119 college football teams this season.
Geesh. Our first game is this Saturday at 6 p.m. against New Mexico.

I know A&M does not have cheerleaders (ahem, male YELL leaders thank you), but in an effort to appease little Aggie girls everywhere, the stores always come out with Aggie cheerleader outfits that grandmas love to buy for their granddaughters. 😉

Enjoy Ella’s Aggie cheers! (I’m not sure that she has a future career in cheerleading…now I wasn’t a cheerleader in high school but, aren’t you supposed to be smiling at all times?!?)  She looks like she’s in pain half of the time!

Yes, that’s the book for me!

Asher melts my heart every time we sing this to him!

“Bible” is now one of his favorite words!
