the Hulk!!

**Halloween Preview**

Asher will be the Hulk for Halloween!  His costume comes with a mask, but I think for trick or treating, to be safe, we will go without.  I found this Jake and the Neverland Pirate wig that looks pretty cool with it!
(I realize his Hulk hands are upside down-oops!)

Barbie and the Three Musketeers!

**Halloween Preview**

For Halloween this year, my girls wanted to be a musketeer from Barbie and the Three Musketeers movie.  They will be the pink and blue musketeer and their friend will be the purple musketeer.  (Yes, we realize we are missing a green musketeer, but oh well!)  🙂

So I went online to buy a costume.  No such luck.  I can’t sew, so I was stuck…until I did some digging on google images, and found a lady who made her daughter’s Musketeer boots with colored duct tape!  Now that is something I can do!  And the rest of the costume, (I made a corset from the duct tape/peltex interfacing too), is put together from odds and ends we already had or I bought!  Here is Rilyn, the blue Musketeer!

ghost town!

On Sunday, we ventured to the local ghost town.

What?!  You mean not every city has a local ghost town?!?  Oh, well, Manor does!  🙂 (I would recommend visiting after Halloween, because right now half of it is closed down due to private events setting up haunted houses.)

My kids favorite thing to do is play in the jail. I wouldn’t mind one of these in my house! 😉

let us out!

Asher has a little too much fun….hehehe

come on Asher, open up the door!

Ella robbed the bank and escaped!

clean getaway!

I tried to take a “ghost” picture, you can barely see Asher in the picture standing right by his sisters. I might try again in the dark next time.

haunted!

Happy Halloween!!

The pumpkin gospel

Just like us, all pumpkins are different. But there is something the same about every one of them – that yucky, slimy pulp on the inside!

From October 2008

The yucky, slimy pulp is like the sin that’s in us. Romans 3:23 says: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” That’s every single one of us.

From October 2008

So we clean out our pumpkin like the way Jesus cleans us out when we confess our sins.

God has made a way that all our sin can be forgiven and washed away. God even says He’ll cast them as far as the East is from the West. Romans 5:8 says: “While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

After cleaning out the pumpkin, we give the pumpkin a new face! The Bible says God can make us a new creation too.

2 Corinthians 5:17 says: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”

From October 2008

Then comes the really special part. The light is placed inside the pumpkin and it glows for all to see!

2 Corinthians 4:6 says: “For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.”

And Matthew 5:16 says: “In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”

So we can become like that pumpkin – a glorious sight for others to see the love of Jesus!

cleaning it out

Ella has a thing about cleaning the inside of a pumpkin.  She really hates it, but we make her do it because it makes for good pictures.  (Yes, that is really the only reason-don’t you know me?)  So here is the outcome of tonight’s “pumpkin clean” in pictures.

We asked Ella to draw a face to carve.  She challenged daddy with this.

From October 2008

I accidentally got wrapped up in taking pictures of daddy carving Rilyn’s pumpkin and that meant Ella had the marker unsupervised for too long and well, she really challenged daddy with this face to carve. 😉

From October 2008

Ella begins to pray as daddy cuts open her pumpkin that maybe, just maybe, this year she won’t have to scoop out the pumpkin guts.

From October 2008

No such luck this year.

From October 2008

“Oh gosh, this is so gross!”

From October 2008

Daddy can’t stand to see his beautiful daughter in such agony and so he rescues her. Ella’s pumpkin knight and hero!

From October 2008

stay tuned for more pumpkin pics tomorrow!

the bouffant and the bug

(yes I had to look up how to spell bouffant)

Here is a little sneak peek at what the two Paquette girls will be wearing this Halloween.  Asher will be wearing the twice passed down pumpkin costume from his big sisters’ first Halloweens. (I promise this will be the only costume that will be passed down to him.)    😉

a princess, a helicopter, and a pumpkin

Who could resist the Mrs. Potato Head pumpkins?  I saw them at Target and knew the girls would love them.  So, we ‘dressed up’ our pumpkins last week and put them on the front porch.  Rilyn proudly claimed that she was the princess pumpkin and Ella proudly claimed she was the “helicopter.”  (I can’t blame her because I don’t think we’ve gotten to the part in the Bible yet where we teach her angels have halos.)  😉  As for Asher, he doesn’t care that he doesn’t have a Mr. Potato Head pumpkin so he won’t get one until next year.  He is just our little pumpkin for now.  🙂

Pumpkin Carving

So, on Halloween Eve, we always carve our pumpkins.  This year we bought a small pumpkin for the baby in mommy’s tummy too.  Rilyn actually drew her own face on her pumpkin and daddy did his best to carve it out.  Rilyn loved playing in the pumpkin slime as we like to call it.  Ella, on the other hand, would have nothing to do with it!

“Don’t touch me with that slime!”
