Fort Worth

We just got home spending the ‘first Christmas’ of the season with James’ family.  We always enjoy spending time with them-don’t get me wrong, but, GOSH! Asher sure makes it hard to really enjoy the holidays right now.  Is it his age?  Or that he is a boy?  Or a sign of things to come with his personality?  I don’t know, but what I do know is that pictures don’t lie…(okay, sometimes they do when I cleverly photoshop them, but I promise, these pictures were not photoshopped!)  🙂

‘Bruiser’ was his nickname on this trip because he received

a busted bottom lip, a rubber burn on his chin from the mall playcourt, and an

unknown head injury

Lollipops kept him content, (he still is looking for trouble in this picture),but if

you dare take the lollipop away because there is nothing but the stick left…

you get this
and this

James’ Christmas in Fort Worth could be summed up as “Sprite and Saltines”.  He got food poisoning right before we left and he never fully recovered the whole time we were there. Poor guy!

blah!

The girls had fun playing the ‘money game,’ as they called it, in Oma and Papaw’s dining room.

Jackpot!
There was no shortage of fun for the girls!  Ella with her game face!

flower girls, ring bearer, maid of honor and groomsman!

It was a great weekend at my little sister, Jessica’s wedding!  We all had important roles to play and her wedding turned out beautiful!  We are very excited for our new brother in law, Eric King.  Some highlights during the ceremony were Ella tripping as she was walking up the stage, me getting to wear 5 inch hot pink high heels, and Asher stopping in the middle of the aisle and had to be lured by daddy holding a lollipop (in which he devoured the whole thing including half of the stick and we couldn’t get the stick out of his hand for pictures because he would start crying!)

Before the wedding we all got manis/pedis!

We all had tank tops that read ‘bridesmaid’ or ‘flower girl’!  Of course Jessica’s

said, “Mrs. King” with a crown on it!

people

For those who know me, I love People magazine!!!  I watch E! News every night.  What can I say?  I’m curious about people.  That’s why I love blogs too!  So when James asked me where I wanted to go one morning in Vegas, I already knew.  Madame Tussaud’s wax museum-home of famous wax people!  We had a good time taking pictures with everyone!

Vegas!

We didn’t win any money.  😦  But, we got to go with great friends, sleep in, and had a great view from our hotel!

Everything was made out of flowers!!!

This picture cracks me up!  Ryan, Halim, and James.  They wanted to take their

countdown vegas!

We love Vegas!  The lights, the energy, the food, the entertainment, and yes, the gambling!  It  feels like another world when you enter ‘the strip’ and sometimes it is nice to just take a break from your daily routine. Together, James and I have been to Vegas twice, and in a few weeks, we are going again with some old (and newer) friends!  (We all happen to be Aggies though!)  In honor of me getting excited about our KID FREE trip, I am posting some past trips…

Spring Break 2002…(We went with some of our college friends, Halim and Jen were some of them!)

When you’re broke, you stay at the Excalibur!

We went back to Vegas for our 5 year wedding anniversary!

We had a little more money, so we moved on up to the Monte Carlo hotel!  😉

Slot machines are not my favorite, but this is

the only place I could sneak a picture in the casino!

We saw Mystere’ Cirque Du Soleil and Hairspray

Both great shows!

James tells me that we are staying at the Bellagio and we are seeing “O” – I am super excited!!! Friends, fun, food, FREEDOM-here I come!!!!! (AND I’m not even going to stress out that the day we fly in from Vegas, it is my sister’s rehearsal dinner for her wedding and my girls are flower girls, Asher is the ring bearer, I’m a bridesmaid, and James a groomsman!) Nope, not me, I never stress! 😉

ahoy!

We had a BUSY Halloween!!  To start off, we took a boat cruise down Town Lake (Lady Bird Lake) in Austin.  The cruise was a ‘thank you’ to all the Kidstuff volunteers at our church.  We got to bring our families (Asher stayed behind to nap at a friends), and it was just a relaxing afternoon!  (Well, besides the pirates that visited us…)

backstage!

Last night, James and I went to So You Think You Can Dance Season 5 show in Austin with our good friends Jen and Jeff.  It was AMAZING!  I was surprised how funny it was too!  Melissa Sandvig’s husband, Erik, hooked us up with backstage passes too!  Enjoy the pictures!

thirty something

Happy Birthday James!  You are definitely 31 years young!
The girls and I made this Jell-o cheesecake for daddy since it is one of his favorite desserts! We celebrated with birthday cake a night early so that we could be with our community group from our church, the Austin Stone. (Our girls love a party!)  This picture is a very accurate reflection of you! Kids (11 are actually around him, although only 6 1/2 are actually shown), are drawn to you because of your child-like personality and playfulness! I love that about you!
