fall decor and more

I love decorating for the seasons and holidays. Unfortunately, James likes ‘decorating’ too. His style, however, is not very pretty. Ugh. This is what I saw last night after he came home from work.
Thanks babe, I think the coins really ‘sparkle’ and your old receipts from your pocket add just the right touch.

Does anyone else have husbands that do this???

**We’ve tried bowls and set aside special ‘areas’ for his stuff, but no such luck. He is programmed to put it all where I don’t want it.

family portraits

When I think of family portraits at this stage in my life, I cringe. I mean, try to get a 16 month toddler BOY to cooperate! Ugh! So, sometimes, you get pictures like this:

Asher may not be looking but I think it makes the picture more ‘artsy’
Another sure-fire way to get a decent family shot-grab your toddler by both hands and swing!!!!
The girls and their new cousin, Caden

Thanks to Jami Sall for the photography!
And thanks to Shanna Wright for the darling dresses she made for the girls! Click here for her etsy shop!

ella’s turn

Ella starts preschool on Tuesday so it was her turn for the ‘back to school’ date with daddy.  She wanted to make sure that she got silly pictures with daddy like Rilyn did so enjoy!

(James took Ella ice skating,(that lasted 30 minutes) and bowling!)

the weekend

Our family had a busy weekend!  On Friday, the kids and I headed to the neighborhood pool for 3 hours (mom record for me!)  At the splash pad, Rilyn shot Ella in the head.  Nice aim.

Where was James this weekend?  Oh he was golfing, playing paintball, and going to the movies with the guys for our friend, Carson’s, wedding!  Tough life always going to bachelor parties!   The kids and I headed to Temple to stay with my parents and we went to a local musical, Beauty and the Beast, which was excellent. Rilyn must of picked up Ella’s bad habits of posing and so poor Belle got a little more than a picture.

The next day, Sunday, Asher, (in my care), took a tumble (rather a twirl) into my parents banister spindles that have corner edges around the bottom. You can guess where he landed.

Fifteen minutes later, I was off to the wedding! (My dad is a doctor so I knew he was in good hands in case the goose egg became more…)
Carson’s wedding brought many dear Aggie friends together again. Fun times had by all!

Dwight would be proud

Watch out Dwight Schrute, there’s a new bobble head in town!

James was in our good friend, Carson Higg’s, wedding yesterday and for groomsmen gifts he gave them each their own bobble heads!

Check out Noel, James, and Halim at the rehearsal dinner.

And now their bobbleheads

We aren’t really sure why Halim’s bobble head is so short!?!

happy birthday james

Never mind that his birthday isn’t until October.
Or that he bought the ticket himself and declared, “It’s for my birthday, so you don’t need to get me anything.”
Or that he purchased these online with his friends when they were supposed to be sharing prayer requests during a Bible study.  (The girls and I were 10 feet away in another room having intimate spiritual discussion.)
Oh well. You can’t tame a Dallas Cowboys fan like this one, (especially when they have a new stadium!)

ain’t no party like a wedding party!

We’ve been blessed over the last 11 years to be a part of our dearest friend’s weddings! Yesterday, James was in our college friend,(and now we go to church with him), Ryan King’s, wedding and it got me thinking of all the wedding parties we’ve been in. We did have a 7 year streak going…but our streak ended in 2008.   2009 wants to make up for that ‘lost year’ so James is in another wedding next month and there is always potential for another one later this year!
My first wedding to be in was 1998 and James was in 2001. Let the streak begin there…

Tommy Jones wedding-January 2001-James is a groomsmen

From L to R:  Carson, James, Noel, Tommy, Kevin, Jeff, Casey, Julia, Courteney, Matthew, and Halim

Matthew Rice’s wedding-June 2001-James is a groomsman

bff’s

One of the sweetest things to watch is your child find a best friend.

What is even sweeter is that Anna’s parents are our best friends as well. Jen, Anna’s mother, was my college roommate at Texas A&M. And Jeff, Anna’s dad, was James’ good friend at A&M. What a blessing to have friends that we consider like family and they only live 2 minutes away from us (walking distance!)  We are so excited to watch our kids grow up together and form lasting bonds!  (By the way, 8 of these people in the picture below all live in the same neighborhood now!  And together, we have 10.5(one in the womb) kids!)

diving board drama

This weekend we celebrated the Fourth at my parent’s house.  The girls love their backyard pool.  Well, except for the diving board and slide and the deep end… But, each time we visit they get a little braver.  Daddy doesn’t do well with their drama about being scared of the diving board, (I mean they are in life jackets!) so he decided to just start throwing them in!

Daddy’s Day!

James, Happy Father’s Day!  I couldn’t begin to imagine a better daddy for our children!

My favorite thing to watch is when you lead our family nights/devotions and how the girls cling to every word you say about our Heavenly FATHER.

Rilyn’s favorite thing about you this year was when you visited her at her preschool.

Ella’s favorite thing is when you color with her.

And Asher, well, he told me he loves when you shoot hoops with him on his Little Tikes basketball hoop.  😉

We love you!!!!
