the weekend

Our family had a busy weekend!  On Friday, the kids and I headed to the neighborhood pool for 3 hours (mom record for me!)  At the splash pad, Rilyn shot Ella in the head.  Nice aim.

Where was James this weekend?  Oh he was golfing, playing paintball, and going to the movies with the guys for our friend, Carson’s, wedding!  Tough life always going to bachelor parties!   The kids and I headed to Temple to stay with my parents and we went to a local musical, Beauty and the Beast, which was excellent. Rilyn must of picked up Ella’s bad habits of posing and so poor Belle got a little more than a picture.

The next day, Sunday, Asher, (in my care), took a tumble (rather a twirl) into my parents banister spindles that have corner edges around the bottom. You can guess where he landed.

Fifteen minutes later, I was off to the wedding! (My dad is a doctor so I knew he was in good hands in case the goose egg became more…)
Carson’s wedding brought many dear Aggie friends together again. Fun times had by all!

diaper cake divas

Yesterday was my sister-in-law’s (my brother’s wife) baby shower for my nephew, Caden, who will be born next month!  I can’t wait to be an aunt!  My sister and I wanted to help with the shower and so we made a diaper cake.  (I jump at any chance to use my scrapbooking skills!)  I think it turned out really cute!

ain’t no party like a wedding party!

We’ve been blessed over the last 11 years to be a part of our dearest friend’s weddings! Yesterday, James was in our college friend,(and now we go to church with him), Ryan King’s, wedding and it got me thinking of all the wedding parties we’ve been in. We did have a 7 year streak going…but our streak ended in 2008.   2009 wants to make up for that ‘lost year’ so James is in another wedding next month and there is always potential for another one later this year!
My first wedding to be in was 1998 and James was in 2001. Let the streak begin there…

Tommy Jones wedding-January 2001-James is a groomsmen

From L to R:  Carson, James, Noel, Tommy, Kevin, Jeff, Casey, Julia, Courteney, Matthew, and Halim

Matthew Rice’s wedding-June 2001-James is a groomsman

Tommy, Matthew, James, and Halim (notice Noel and Carson in the background famously jumping in other people’s pictures)

Kim Hill’s wedding-June 2001-I was a bridesmaid

Yep, that is Jen standing next to me

That takes us to 2002!

Halim Suh’s wedding-Dec. 2002-James is a groomsman

2003…

Jeff and Jen’s wedding-August 2003-I was a bridesmaid

2004 (sorry for the bad pic)

Becca Gray’s wedding-July 2004-James is a groomsman

2005

Casey Pettett’s wedding-January 2005-I am a bridesmaid

2006

my brother’s wedding!-May 2006-James and I are both in the wedding party

2007
James is in a wedding but it is out of state and I couldn’t come, so obviously no pictures were taken!

Kristy Hilton’s wedding-Dec. 2007-I am a bridesmaid(I’ve known Kristy since I was 3!)

bff’s

One of the sweetest things to watch is your child find a best friend.

Ella and Anna Richardson From August 2006
From October 2007
From September 2008
Dance Life, Jen’s new dance studio in her garage!!!             From July 2009

What is even sweeter is that Anna’s parents are our best friends as well. Jen, Anna’s mother, was my college roommate at Texas A&M. And Jeff, Anna’s dad, was James’ good friend at A&M. What a blessing to have friends that we consider like family and they only live 2 minutes away from us (walking distance!)  We are so excited to watch our kids grow up together and form lasting bonds!  (By the way, 8 of these people in the picture below all live in the same neighborhood now!  And together, we have 10.5(one in the womb) kids!)

the plasma pokey

Sing with me!

You put your right arm in (jacked from Monday)

You put your left arm in (jacked from Thursday)

You wonder why you keep donating

but you do the plasma pokey and you keep getting paid

That’s what it’s all about!

From June 2009

To make a long story short:
Couldn’t donate in right arm because of bruise from Monday
Had to donate in left arm which has tiny veins
My vein started puffing up like a bubble while donating
Lost some blood (not supposed to happen),
Nearly fainted TWO times (one in the chair, one in the waiting room)
Had to lie flat on my back in the front waiting room with 20 other people staring at me while I get ice packs all over my body and have to eat crackers
The end.

Will I donate again? You betcha…just gotta have both arm bruises go away and I’m clear!
So, I do the plasma pokey and I keep getting paid, that’s what it’s all about!
(oh yah, and I’m saving lives!)

I always know it’s the end of May when…

a Tuesday looks like this next week:

9:30-10  -Awards celebration for Ella at preK

10-11  -Splash day and then p.j. day at Ella’s preK (must go to take pictures)

12:30-2:30  -Rilyn’s field trip to Crowe’s Nest Farm (I’m a parent volunteer)

7-9  -community group

8:00  -moms for moms (church group) celebration night at La Madeleine’s

And, oh yah, it will be our 8th wedding anniversary that day too!

Can I be at all these things?  Probably not, (and seriously not when Asher goes to school!)  Some days, I wish I could just duplicate myself.

just a little temperamental

I was just so fed up with Ella’s crying fits the other day, that the only thing I could do for my sanity was to video tape her and know that one day this would be funny to me!  If this is what she acts like during a simple ‘ball game’ then we are going to have a lot of fun during the teenage years!  (Pardon our white trash backyard, we had to put all the kids toys ‘up’ so our lawn guy could mow for the first time this year!)

*I love how Rilyn stands up for her sister and says, “Stop video taping her!”  What a mean mommy I am!

you’ve come a long way baby

To make myself feel better about turning 30 today, I looked back at some old photos of myself.  Wow!  It was pretty brutal.  I feel like I look younger today than some of my photos back then!  Take for instance this one when I was about 12.

From May 2009

Look at me!  I have shoulder pads, an old lady dress on, pearls and a straw hat with some shrub growing on it! And this was Easter day, so I probably really took the time to make myself look good!  (Don’t ya just wish someone told you to pluck your eyebrows when you were that young?)  Ha!

My dear daughter knew how to make me feel good today.  Rilyn told me, “Thirty isn’t old mom because it has a zero in it!”

My mom thought it would be so cute to make me wear this crown, wand, and necklaceshe bought me!
