Just like us, all pumpkins are different. But there is something the same about every one of them – that yucky, slimy pulp on the inside!

The yucky, slimy pulp is like the sin that’s in us. Romans 3:23 says: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” That’s every single one of us.

So we clean out our pumpkin like the way Jesus cleans us out when we confess our sins.
God has made a way that all our sin can be forgiven and washed away. God even says He’ll cast them as far as the East is from the West. Romans 5:8 says: “While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
After cleaning out the pumpkin, we give the pumpkin a new face! The Bible says God can make us a new creation too.
2 Corinthians 5:17 says: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”

Then comes the really special part. The light is placed inside the pumpkin and it glows for all to see!
2 Corinthians 4:6 says: “For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.”
And Matthew 5:16 says: “In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”
So we can become like that pumpkin – a glorious sight for others to see the love of Jesus!

Ella has a thing about cleaning the inside of a pumpkin. She really hates it, but we make her do it because it makes for good pictures. (Yes, that is really the only reason-don’t you know me?) So here is the outcome of tonight’s “pumpkin clean” in pictures.
We asked Ella to draw a face to carve. She challenged daddy with this.

I accidentally got wrapped up in taking pictures of daddy carving Rilyn’s pumpkin and that meant Ella had the marker unsupervised for too long and well, she really challenged daddy with this face to carve. 😉

Ella begins to pray as daddy cuts open her pumpkin that maybe, just maybe, this year she won’t have to scoop out the pumpkin guts.

stay tuned for more pumpkin pics tomorrow!
(yes I had to look up how to spell bouffant)
Here is a little sneak peek at what the two Paquette girls will be wearing this Halloween. Asher will be wearing the twice passed down pumpkin costume from his big sisters’ first Halloweens. (I promise this will be the only costume that will be passed down to him.) 😉

So, I realized that it is much harder to get all 3 kids together for pumpkin patch pics now that Rilyn is in preschool every day and Ella is in preschool twice a week. Today, we had round 1 of pictures with just Asher and Rilyn. Hopefully we can make it again this week so Ella will be included. 😉

Who could resist the Mrs. Potato Head pumpkins? I saw them at Target and knew the girls would love them. So, we ‘dressed up’ our pumpkins last week and put them on the front porch. Rilyn proudly claimed that she was the princess pumpkin and Ella proudly claimed she was the “helicopter.” (I can’t blame her because I don’t think we’ve gotten to the part in the Bible yet where we teach her angels have halos.) 😉 As for Asher, he doesn’t care that he doesn’t have a Mr. Potato Head pumpkin so he won’t get one until next year. He is just our little pumpkin for now. 🙂

Mandy, James’ sister, sent him a great birthday card. It said, “Just because your 30 doesn’t mean you still can’t be a teen heart throb!” Her card was perfect because for his birthday my parents and I got James Rock Band for his Wii. Now he can live out his dream. (If you really know James you know I am not kidding.)
