an easter story

Poor Asher.   Mommy is at it again.

From April 2009

Oh well, it could be worse.

taken from  the movie, “A Christmas Story”

I have been challenged this year to look for ways to make the true significance of Easter a reality to my children. *Believe it or not, bunnies can be used to bring a greater understanding of the message of Easter.
Use a stuffed bunny rabbit to teach some of the characteristics of Jesus that we should all try to have.
Real Easter bunnies:
are white as snow because Jesus takes all sin away (Isaiah 1:18b)
are gentle, kind-hearted and forgiving (Eph. 4:32)
have big ears that are quick to listen (James 1:19)
have big eyes to look carefully and choose what is good (1 Thes. 5:21)
have no voice for complaining or arguing (Phil. 2:13)
are quiet in prayer, but hop with thanksgiving and rejoicing (1 Thes. 5:21)
have big feet to go tell others about Jesus so they can be like Easter bunnies, too (Matthew 28:19-20)
eat what is healthy by filling up on God’s word every day (Psalm 119:11)

bluebonnets round 1

Now obviously you can tell why this is ’round 1′ of my annual bluebonnet pictures.  So, there will be more pictures to come with sisters!  Really, this morning was just a ‘scouting trip’ to see if I could find any bluebonnets nearby.  Much to Asher’s dismay, we did, and even though it was only 55 degrees outside, (he should know now that mommy will do whatever it takes to get ‘the shot’), I parked him in the middle of the flowers to ‘chill’ (literally) while I snapped pictures furiously.

in honor of the rodeo

Asher is 11 months old today!  Poor Asher has a mommy who makes him take nude pictures.  She believes in calling them ‘artistic’ rather than ’embarrassing.’  She hopes you agree.

Do boys just naturally know this ‘pose’?Pretty sure he was really peeing in this one.

When I took off his boots, they were all wet!

Asher just learned how to pat-a-cake thanks to Grandma. He is still not walking, but hopefully he will soon, because mommy is tired of his little knees getting rug burns!

double digits

Today, Asher hit the double digit month-10.  It’s a pretty big milestone considering he will be double digit months old until he is almost 8 1/2 years.  (Yes, I know I think of weird things.)  Anyway, still no walking, but his cruising is getting faster and faster, so we’ll see.  Right now he is starting to show his temper.  If I even get near the back door, he starts kicking his legs and whining because he wants to go outside and swing.  And when we take him out of the swing, he starts crying.  So mommy has left him in the swing in the backyard (with the girls) while I cook dinner.  Rilyn may push him once in awhile, (God help him if Ella gets a push!), but generally he just hangs there looking around-it’s a great babysitter and he is safely locked in!  Love it!

genius in training

Why is it that Asher eats more grown-up food than I do?

From February 2009

Call me a sucker, but when I saw this on the baby food shelf, I couldn’t resist.  It promises “fortified with DHA, an omega-3 essential fatty acid associated with helping children gain weight and learn faster.”  I mean, Asher needs all the help he can get since he is the third child.  😉  (Some days I think, “have I read a book to him this week?!?”)

**Not to be outdone by an inferior brand, Gerber has recently come out with ‘Vegetable Risotto with Cheese’ and Plum Organics has ‘Black Bean Tomato Ragout’.

Bad timing Barbie

Life has gotten a lot harder now that I have a full blown crawler, who pulls up on everything, and is about to cruise.  (I saw him standing by himself yesterday for a second too…)  Asher has already eaten half of a dead spider, (I got the other half out with my finger), and half of a clear Christmas tree light.  I’ve also fished out of his mouth one of the girls rings and a carpet staple.  Anybody want to take bets on how soon we will go to the E.R.?  I just can’t watch him close enough with the other 2 girls running around.  So, this brings me to the ‘bad timing’ part.  My dear mom decides that it is a good time to clean out a closet full of my old Barbie stuff at her house last week.  Wonderful!  If only she decided to leave it at her house.  But no!  She brought it all to my house.  Of course, the girls LOVED it and still do and I did get a kick out of seeing my old stuff, but now not only do I have to watch Asher to make sure he doesn’t eat another spider, NOW I have to make sure he doesn’t eat any of this stuff that has been strewn throughout our house.

These are just the ‘accessories’ for Barbie (which are all, conveniently, 1 inch big).  We even have Barbie silverware that is the size of staples! I know I’m going to find a Barbie high heel in Asher’s poop one of these days! (If so, you know I will blog about it!)

These are some of my favorite Barbie things now passed down to my daughters. (The black case and car were my mom’s when she was little!) And yes, I kept all my stuff in their original boxes, didn’t you?!?

watch out General Hospital

Dr. Asher Paquette is ready to operate!  Here he is with his personalized scrubs on that Grandma got him for Christmas (now he can look like Grandpa).  I had to take these pictures of him today because he is nine months old now!  He is a total crawler and loves to pull up on anything.  He’s pretty content as long as mommy is around, but he does love a good wrestling match with daddy!  We love our buster!

cirque du asher

Asher is 8 months old and hasn’t quite got the crawling thing down yet.  He can get from point A to point B, but it is not pretty(a few face plants).  He’s been practicing since he was 7 months old, so he has picked up a couple of tricks since then though.  Here are some pics of his latest move.
