first date

Ella’s year of firsts continue as tonight she got to go on her first father/daughter date.  The rule in our family is that you have to be three to start dating (DADDY!)  They painted the town red at Chick Fil A and then bowling.  Here are the pics of daddy’s arrival to pick up his darling date.

And just for fun, here is Rilyn on her first date with daddy in January of 2008. Did I dress Ella purposely in the same dress that Rilyn wore on her first date with daddy? If you know me well, you know the answer.

open wide

Since Ella is now three, she gets to go to the dentist!  She had her first appointment today.  I was bracing myself for a screaming fit, but she was actually very brave!  The hygienist did say though, “I can tell this one is hard, isn’t she?”  (She could only get 2 out of the 4 x-rays done and Ella kept closing her mouth during cleaning.)  But, the trip was successful in my book because she didn’t throw any tantrums!  When the hygienist asked what flavor she wanted for the cleaning paste, Ella said, “cheese”.  Hmm…sorry Ella, no cheese flavor here.  Ella tried again, “Heart flavor.”  Too cute.  She settled on chocolate.

evolution of envy

Yesterday, Ella got to open a few presents from mommy and daddy for her birthday.  Rilyn’s reactions were very 4 year old like!

fhree

Our Ella Bella is “fhree years old” today.  She is our funny girl, carefree, and loves to cuddle.  She needs control though, and cross her path, she will let you know!  Life without Ella would just be boring!  If there is a hazardous thing in a 20 foot vicinity she will find it and either trip on it or run into it causing another bruise and a good screaming/crying fit.  She’s always good for a few stains on her clothes every day.  She loves to sing, to draw, and to run in circles till she gets dizzy and falls.  She is a girly girl and loves to play dress up and now plays Barbie with Rilyn.   Here are her three year portraits we got done today.

I’ll leave you with an “Ellaism”:
(Ella still REFUSES to poop in the potty-part of her control issues)
After Ella poops in her pull up she looks at James and says, “I made a snowman in my pull up.”
(If you don’t get this then you haven’t had a child who is constipated before.) 😉

ella’s party day

We glammed it up for Ella’s 3rd birthday party!  We went to Snip-Its and 7 of her little girlfriends from church had a makeover party.  First, they got to pick out an outfit to wear.  Then, they got their nails done.

Sin

I was putting laundry away in my room this afternoon and as I was walking out, I thought I heard a crackling sound.  I knew Rilyn was asleep, but Ella could of been awake, so I tiptoed in the kitchen to see if that was her.  I grabbed my camera when I saw her (she didn’t see me) and I quietly whipped around the corner of the kitchen island where I saw this:

Oh yes, she took a candy cane off of the tree and was eating it ever so sneakily (or so she thought).  I love her ‘deer in the head lights’ look in this picture. She very quickly gave me the candy cane when I asked her “what are you doing?” and then confessed her sin to me.

busted

We’ve managed to go 4 1/2 years with kids without going to the ER.  I think that is a pretty good run…

Tonight it ended, but with good news.  No stitches for poor Ella on her busted lip that she did at a friend’s house.  The cut is inside her top lip and pretty deep (hence the major swelling)  Since she is a thumb sucker I just wanted to make sure everything was okay in there.  Doctor told me to have her wear a mitten to bed so she wouldn’t suck her thumb for awhile.  I paid $100 copay for that wise advice.  Thanks doc.

By the way, like any normal mom, I took my camera to the ER where I took these shots. What?!? You don’t take your camera to the ER?? Well, you’re missing out on some great photo ops!! 😉 (Yes, I’m that obsessed with scrapbooking!)

the poopoo princess gown

As I was napping today, (“How could you take a nap with 3 kids?” you ask.  Well because I am just now getting over strep throat which I’ve had since Monday night and my dear sweet husband has worked from home the whole week so he could take care of me and the kids!!!  I know I’m totally spoiled by him!!  Thanks babe!) I was awoken by Ella running in my room and screaming “I poopoo’d in the potty mommy!!”  Now this is something of a feat because we have been trying for her to poopoo in the potty for the past 6 months (oh the joys of potty training!).  I got out of bed and looked at James and asked, “Is it true?!?”  “Yep!” he replied and we both looked lovingly at the Disney princess nightgown….

You see, we have been racking our brains trying to find something to bribe Ella with for her to poo in the potty.  Chuck E Cheese, ice cream, wrapped presents, and wearing ‘big girl panties’ all were laughed at by her.  Until one day last week I was noticing how Ella and Rilyn love wearing their nightgowns to bed each night.  You see, they only have one nightgown each and they beg and plead to wear it each night and they are heartbroken when I tell them it must be washed before they can wear it again (because really, that could be a long time with my laundry skills).  So I decided to buy one more Disney Princess night gown, (because you can’t beat Disney Princess in my girls eyes), and that would be the bribe.  James instituted my plan this week since I was bedridden and he did it brilliantly because he added a twist.  He brought out the oh so beautiful nightgown and told both girls this was a nightgown that only the girl who went poopoo in the potty last could wear that night.  He looked at Ella, “Did you go poopoo in the potty today?”  Ella goes right into tears.  Rilyn pipes up, “I did daddy!  Oh I’m so excited, what a surprise!  I get this nightgown!”  Ella goes right to the potty but to no avail.  She is in too much distress to even push out a pebble.  😉  Rilyn wears the gown for the night and Ella is heartbroken.  (Hooray!  Just where we want her!)

And that leads us to today where we decided to leave Ella naked from the waist down and keep reminding her of the gown.  Well, here is the picture to prove it worked! (At least it worked once. Hopefully this will continue!!)

So what did I learn from all this? If vanity worked now, James and I are in for it big time when they hit puberty!!

Ella’s first day

Ella had her first day of preschool today.  She was so excited to go since sister has already been going now for 2 weeks.

From September 2008

Anna Richardson, Ella’s best friend, is in her class (Miss Misty’s Monkeys!), so we thought it would be cute to dress them alike!  Here they are at the donut store this morning.
