a love letter

Oh how I love thee biter biscuits! Thank you for letting my family have a peaceful Thanksgiving meal today.  Thank you for providing teething relief for my boy (4 teeth and counting!).  Thank you for letting him enjoy delicious graham flavor.  I could do without your clean-up but I will sacrifice 30 wipes for 30 minutes of a somewhat, (don’t forget we still have 2 other kiddos!) peaceful meal.

busted

We’ve managed to go 4 1/2 years with kids without going to the ER.  I think that is a pretty good run…

Tonight it ended, but with good news.  No stitches for poor Ella on her busted lip that she did at a friend’s house.  The cut is inside her top lip and pretty deep (hence the major swelling)  Since she is a thumb sucker I just wanted to make sure everything was okay in there.  Doctor told me to have her wear a mitten to bed so she wouldn’t suck her thumb for awhile.  I paid $100 copay for that wise advice.  Thanks doc.

By the way, like any normal mom, I took my camera to the ER where I took these shots. What?!? You don’t take your camera to the ER?? Well, you’re missing out on some great photo ops!! 😉 (Yes, I’m that obsessed with scrapbooking!)

Who doesn’t love surprises?

Today is officially the start of James ‘birthday week.’  His big 3-0 is actually 4 days away but in our family we like to celebrate all week just to make it more fun.  Well, who doesn’t love surprises on your birthday week?  This is what James got today.

You see, James wanted to go to IHOP after 5 o’clock church today because they have his favorite pancakes and he is entitled because it is his birthday week.  If you can’t tell from the pics, James got his car stereo jacked from his car in the IHOP parking lot on Cesar Chavez today. (As if his 1997 Nissan Altima wasn’t hooptie enough, now he gets to drive around for awhile with a missing front passenger window and car stereo!) We took 2 cars to church and thankfully my car wasn’t broken into which was parked right next to his. I guess they figured mine has a car alarm which it does.

Here’s to hoping James birthday week gets better! Love you hon!

it starts

Aggie football season is upon us…at least someone in this family is excited!

(This was on the front page of the sports section in The Bryan Eagle on October 29, 2000. We were seniors and had pretty good seats. If you know James, you know that he really is a big Aggie football fan so this picture is even funnier!)  (I added the text bubbles obviously.)

We are going to the game tomorrow…go Aggies!!!! Whoop!

Potty Like A Rock Star

Ella started becoming interested in potty training at 23 months. Four months later, we are still working on it, but slowly progressing. I don’t think she will be fully trained by Asher’s arrival, but she is doing good!

(The reason she is doing her pout is because she doesn’t want to wear the ‘rock star’ glasses mommy is making her wear b/c they go well with her shirt!)  😉

Why do I have so many pictures like this?

Old friends are good for many reasons, but one of the best reasons is the pictures to look at later. Enjoy Halim and James’ modeling days…

Kicked out of swimming lessons?

Well, we signed up Rilyn for swimming lessons this summer because she desperately needs it!  She is freaked out to go under the water or even float in water with floaties on!  She had her first lesson this week and she cried during most of it.  After the lesson the head instructor informed me that my daughter will be ‘asked to leave’ the swimming lessons (with a refund of course) if she keeps up her crying.  They told me Rilyn has one more chance to prove that she can do a lesson with minimal crying because otherwise it is “unsafe for the instructor”.  (Rilyn did flail wildly at the instructor a couple of times when she was trying to get her to back float!)  I’ll keep you posted to see if Rilyn was “allowed” to keep having lessons!
