We just got home spending the ‘first Christmas’ of the season with James’ family. We always enjoy spending time with them-don’t get me wrong, but, GOSH! Asher sure makes it hard to really enjoy the holidays right now. Is it his age? Or that he is a boy? Or a sign of things to come with his personality? I don’t know, but what I do know is that pictures don’t lie…(okay, sometimes they do when I cleverly photoshop them, but I promise, these pictures were not photoshopped!) 🙂

| ‘Bruiser’ was his nickname on this trip because he received
a busted bottom lip, a rubber burn on his chin from the mall playcourt, and an unknown head injury |

| Lollipops kept him content, (he still is looking for trouble in this picture),but if
you dare take the lollipop away because there is nothing but the stick left… |

James’ Christmas in Fort Worth could be summed up as “Sprite and Saltines”. He got food poisoning right before we left and he never fully recovered the whole time we were there. Poor guy!

The girls had fun playing the ‘money game,’ as they called it, in Oma and Papaw’s dining room.

In our house we “pretend to believe” in Santa Claus. The girls know that Santa is pretend. Why? Because we want to keep our focus on the birth of Jesus at Christmas time. (I truly believe families can do this and still ‘believe’ in Santa, but in our family, our conviction is to keep Santa pretend.) We still like to sit on Santa’s lap and read stories about Santa and watch Polar Express though. The girls’ have big imaginations and as much as they like pretending to be princesses, they can also pretend Santa comes down their chimney as long as they know it’s pretend! So this year, for their annual Santa lap shot, Rilyn told Santa she wanted, “an ipod and a phone.” (Whoa! If this is what she wants at 5, then we’re really in trouble when she’s a teen!) Ella said she wanted a new nightgown. 🙂

It was a great weekend at my little sister, Jessica’s wedding! We all had important roles to play and her wedding turned out beautiful! We are very excited for our new brother in law, Eric King. Some highlights during the ceremony were Ella tripping as she was walking up the stage, me getting to wear 5 inch hot pink high heels, and Asher stopping in the middle of the aisle and had to be lured by daddy holding a lollipop (in which he devoured the whole thing including half of the stick and we couldn’t get the stick out of his hand for pictures because he would start crying!)

| Before the wedding we all got manis/pedis!
We all had tank tops that read ‘bridesmaid’ or ‘flower girl’! Of course Jessica’s said, “Mrs. King” with a crown on it! |

I love to take pictures. I got a new camera that I love. I have certain pictures that James and the girls know mommy NEEDS to take each year. They are, (besides the obvious holiday/birthday ones), pictures in the bluebonnets and pictures in fall foliage. Now the first is way easier than the second because of where we live. I resent that sometimes. Each year, I’m on a hunt, and what usually ends up happening is I get of picture of them in dead leaves (because at least their brown.) Today though, I got some pretty good shots of the kids in my parent’s backyard of all places(I’m not saying this is ‘Boston in the fall’ type leaves but they’re decent)! I think I found my new annual fall foliage spot (I hope!) Enjoy!
This is some of my past ‘fall foliage’ (i.e. dead leaves)

| Ella’s look just scares me in this photo… |
Rilyn went to her first Aggie game yesterday. Sadly, we lost (39-49) to a #3 ranked team (that will remain nameless), but we played hard and the game was very entertaining! At times, I got emotional thinking of my oldest daughter walking around the campus where James and I met. It was so neat to see her experience Aggie football-something James and I both love. She did great and stayed up the whole game (7 p.m. kick-off). How could she sleep when Visor Guy is sitting in front of her? There was a long time out (like 10 minutes), because a player was hurt and it was very quiet in the stadium of 84,500 fans. After awhile, Rilyn said rather loud, “Is he dead daddy?” We heard a few chuckles from the fans around. Then she said, “We should pray for him.” She proceeded to pray out loud for the hurt player. It was so sweet to hear.
Enjoy the pictures!

We had a BUSY Halloween!! To start off, we took a boat cruise down Town Lake (Lady Bird Lake) in Austin. The cruise was a ‘thank you’ to all the Kidstuff volunteers at our church. We got to bring our families (Asher stayed behind to nap at a friends), and it was just a relaxing afternoon! (Well, besides the pirates that visited us…)
