accessorize

Yesterday evening, it was just me and Asher hanging out while the girls were at the pool with daddy.  I was trying to check my e-mail, but I kept getting distracted because my son would walk by me and be carrying this…

sisters’ necklace

or this…

his sisters’ tiara

or a high heel…

These must be Jimmy “Chews”  😉

or even a diamond braclet!

Seriously, it was like I couldn’t take ‘the toys’ away fast enough, (of course I first had to snap a picture so I can tease him when he is older)!  And right after I took the offending object, he would go find another girly accessory to play with!  I’m told not to be too concerned yet, he “doesn’t know the difference,” but you would think he would at least pick up one of his ‘boy toys’ (hammer, truck, football…) to play with.

Oh well, at least after he picks up the accessory, he likes to throw it down with a quarterback-like arm (at least that is what I tell myself as he sits in his sister’s princess throne holding a wand…)

Sigh.

(And I’m now choosing to ignore that his favorite toy in the car is his sister’s Little Mermaid cell phone.)

Daddy’s Day!

James, Happy Father’s Day!  I couldn’t begin to imagine a better daddy for our children!

My favorite thing to watch is when you lead our family nights/devotions and how the girls cling to every word you say about our Heavenly FATHER.

Rilyn’s favorite thing about you this year was when you visited her at her preschool.

Ella’s favorite thing is when you color with her.

And Asher, well, he told me he loves when you shoot hoops with him on his Little Tikes basketball hoop.  😉

We love you!!!!

recipe for walking

Don’t you just love the first stages of walking in a toddler? I have to remind myself that Asher will soon be walking like a big boy and to cherish all of this ‘toddling’. Now you know the recipe for walking at this stage, right?

Equal parts tummy and booty. Add a dash of flapping arms and hands and you’ve got it!

we have lift off!

Asher is walking!  Well, technically, he is walking from one piece of furniture to the next, but I know he’ll be walking around everywhere in a matter of days.  Both Rilyn and Ella walked at 13 1/2 months so all my kiddos are par for the course.  Here’s to a new stage in my life!

graceful exits

I’m sure one day Rilyn will not be too thrilled that I posted these pictures, but it was so funny I couldn’t pass it up.  James took these shots the other day (note: I’m trying to cut back in my photo-taking this month, not James.)

what a boy does

He doesn’t want to stay in the clean wading pool outside.  He wants to eat and play in the mud, where a boy belongs.

it’s asher’s party and we’ll cry if we want to

We had Asher’s first birthday party at a local park on Saturday evening.  A few of his baby buddies came along and it made for some cute pictures.  You know how when one baby cries, they all start crying?  Well, I’m not sure who even started it…but it went something like this…

Halle, Malachi, Caden, Asher, Halle, Gracie, Ella, Gavin, Cole, Dee, Reece, and Rilyn

Happy Birthday Buster, we love you!!!

Happy 1st Birthday Asher!

I can’t believe that today my baby is one! I officially have no more ‘babies’ in the house (although there are plenty of times when they act like it!) He is still not walking, or standing on his own. He is content to crawl around everywhere. His favorite toy is our remote control and his favorite play buddies are his sisters! No one can make him laugh like they do! They have really taken to wrestling him!
So, we just got back from our California vacation and I can’t wait to go through our 500+ photos and post, BUT today is my baby’s first birthday and I just had to give him the spotlight! Of course I had a photo op in mind and it didn’t quite go as I had planned but still cute none the less. I baked him his own special chocolate cake and wanted him to ‘tear into it’ while I snapped away! Well, I don’t think it helped that he woke up at 10 a.m. (we’re all still on CA time), and we gave him a big donut for his birthday breakfast and he gobbled it all up! So, at lunchtime, he wasn’t hungry enough for his cake and we forced him to taste it and he acted like it was disgusting! I don’t think he appreciated the texture of sprinkles and cake crumbs either. Oh well!
Here is Asher at breakfast in his custom bib from Grandma!

and they called it puppy love…

I think Asher won’t mind when his sisters want to pop in the movie Beauty and the Beast
