eight

Today is our 8th anniversary!  It’s always fun to remember back on the day we were married and bring out the old wedding album…but I thought I would share some honeymoon pictures this time!

What?!? Your honeymoon pictures don’t look like those?  You mean your new husband didn’t try to do ‘tricks’ on a water slide in Cancun, Mexico and crack open his chin?  Well, I must have been a lucky wifey on my honeymoon!

excuse the picture, I scanned it from an old scrapbook

Here is the ‘Space Bowl’ with James in it right before he tried to do his trick and “hang” in the bowl!  Haha!  Sharing my life with James is always full of humor and adventure and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

We actually already celebrated our anniversary Monday, (when you get free babysitting, you celebrate), with a round of golf (we take turns planning our anniversary and it was my turn to plan for him).  I actually bought golf shoes this time so I guess I’m stuck with a new quasi hobby!  I did, after all, beat James on one hole!

Rock Band

Mandy, James’ sister, sent him a great birthday card.  It said, “Just because your 30 doesn’t mean you still can’t be a teen heart throb!”  Her card was perfect because for his birthday my parents and I got James Rock Band for his Wii.  Now he can live out his dream.  (If you really know James you know I am not kidding.)

At Texas A&M, James made it into the Battalion, our school’s newspaper, for his performance of ‘the criminal’ in the crucifixion scene.

December Update

Ella and Rilyn had a wonderful Christmas!  We spent Christmas day in Fort Worth and celebrated again with my family later that week.  They are SO blessed to have amazing grandparents on both sides of the family who shower them with love and of course gifts!  This was Ella’s first Christmas and she wasn’t too into opening presents.  In fact, a lot of the time she would put on a pouty face and cry if too many people were looking at her.  I think the holidays were too much stimulation for her!  Rilyn was more than happy to open all of Ella’s presents for her though!

Ella points at everything now and mimics sound really well.  Her first word (besides mama and dada) was ‘ball’ and she says ‘uh oh’ and ‘wow.’  She loves throwing things off of tables and saying ‘uh oh’!  Ella must be going through a growth spurt because she just has to eat everything we are eating PLUS her own baby food.  I’m sad to say she has had plenty of pizza, french fries, and chocolate already! (maybe we as parents should get better eating habits!)

Rilyn continues to make us laugh daily.  She picked up a bent french fry and said, “This french fry died so now I’m going to eat it.”  She was getting jealous of me rocking and feeding Ella a bottle once afternoon and climbed up on my lap with Ella.  She said, “When I get bigger, can I be a baby and drink a bottle like Ella?”  I love her childlike innocence…

Our big news is that James just accepted a Financial Advisor position with Dell in Round Rock, TX.  We really wanted to be closer to family and so we felt it was the right time in our lives to make the big move.  We currently have our house on the market and will soon start the house hunting process in the Austin area.  James starts his new job in mid-February.

November Update

Rilyn is now 2 ½!  She can’t wait for Christmas and to see “Santa Closet” (as she calls him) at the mall to take a picture with him.  When she saw a Mrs. Claus standing in someone’s yard, she asked, “Can I see Santa’s mommy, Mary?”  We are trying to teach her the true meaning of Christmas, but there is so much commercialism around, it is no wonder a small child gets confused!

On another note…with daddy’s Cowboys doing so well, football games have been on the TV a lot these days.  She asked daddy last weekend, “When I get bigger, can I play football with the boys?”   “We’ll see…” is all he could think to say.  As you can see from the video, Rilyn loves to serenade us with the classic tunes of toddlerhood.  It’s no wonder she knows the songs so well because she requests her favorites to be put on ‘repeat’ in the car CD player.  I think I tune out when I hear the Itsy Bitsy Spider being played for the 10th time.

Ella is 11 months old now.  She cruises (and crawls) around everywhere and it won’t be long before she can stand up on her own.  She is starting to sign now.  She can sign ‘all done’ and ‘more’.  We taught some basic sign language to Rilyn when she was this age and found it to be extremely beneficial!  As you can see on the video, Ella is fearless (I know the video looks bad; but she really only cried for a second after I got her) and she continues to test the limits in all things.  When we tell her ‘no’ she just looks at us and giggles and then proceeds to do it again until we physically remove her from the situation!
