Shadow Ninjas!

Asher has started his third season of soccer with James as his coach!  He has played soccer with 3 of these boys all three years too!  Go Shadow Ninjas!!

soccer time!

James is coaching Asher’s soccer team for the second year, the Rolling Stones.  This year they are playing on the under 5 league, but James allowed two 3 year olds to play on our team because they are family.  So cousin Caden gets to play with the “big kids!” Here they all are at their first practice!

Their first game was on Saturday!

cousins!

We totally lost (BAD), but they ALL had fun, and that is what it’s about! 🙂 (I keep telling myself this in my head because it’s hard to watch them lose as a mommy.)

End of game hands-in!  Goooooo Rolling Stones!

sideline fun!

Asher had his second soccer game today!  James’ parents came from Fort Worth, (and surprised our kids), just to watch the game!  Asher touched the ball once, so he still has a ways to go with his skills, but he really seems like he enjoys running around the field following the ball!  He was so tired after the game, that he fell asleep while we were eating ice cream at a restaurant!  There was a lot going on today on the sidelines with Oma and Papaw here!

I did manage to capture Asher’s one touch of the ball on camera today!

he kicked it!
I like this one of Asher chasing the ball with his buddy

The best part of the game for Asher, (besides the snacks of course!) is the parent tunnel at the end where everyone is giving out high fives!

yay!!!
Thanks for driving 3 hours just to watch me!

Asher’s first soccer game!

After a long break from soccer, the Paquette’s are back, this time with Asher!  (The girls are happily in ballet and hip hop.) James is the coach, and if you measured his happiness by how much he has spent on new “coaching” clothes and soccer equipment, you would say he is LOVING it!  🙂   Five  out of the six kids on the team are from our church, the Austin Stone Community Church.  Hence, we named the soccer team-the Rolling Stones!  (We also live in the same neighborhood!)  Here is James with Asher (pre hair-cut!) on the first day of practice on Thursday.

Asher had a lot of heart this morning. He was always running with a big grin on his face. However, he mostly ran NEAR the ball and didn’t quite understand you are supposed to KICK the ball, (especially when the other team had it). This is my favorite action shot of the morning, and it was before the game even started!

running drills with daddy

Here is James giving the team a pre-game pep talk. I love how Asher is listening intently and how the other players are “eyeing” the other team across the field!

Caden’s big brother, Cole, is the unoffical “assitant coach”

Asher ready to start with his “mean” game face on! He reminds me of Ella‘s soccer face back in the day!

I’m ready for you!

Asher got the ball!

go busta!

Asher had many supporters at his first game! Cousin Caden came to watch (and grandma and grandpa too)!

thanks for coming cuz!

In the 4th quarter, Asher was done. 🙂

Ella’s first soccer game!

Finally Ella had her first soccer game! She was ready to play and put on her game face!

Ella is on the WildPfire team with her best friend, Anna Richardson. Aren’t they precious?

bffs

With a little bribe from daddy, (if she doesn’t cry she gets to have ice cream!), our little girl ran the field with gusto!

Watch out!  Here comes Ella!

She even took a hard, face-planting tumble!

But she held in her tears! (And took a break with Uncle Jeff to pick her nose.) 🙂

We were so proud of our Ella!

And poor Asher and Caden, (Anna’s little brother.) It’s torture to hold toddler boys back from running around grassy fields with a ball! But alas, Jeff managed quite nicely!

I want down!!!!!!!

the first soccer game!

Awww….doesn’t she look cute?  All dressed up, with her daddy’s soccer number when he was in school, and ready for her first soccer game!

Well, we thought, from this smiling pose, that we were going to have a great game! She was excited to wear all her ‘gear’ and I, (being a good soccer mom), even made her a matching hair band from my leftover scrapbooking ribbon! Our luck though, soon changed as we were driving to the game and I realized I was NOT a good soccer mom because I had forgot all the camping chairs, jackets, and our video camera! Then we started the game and this happened.

walking off the field

Rilyn got so overwhelmed by the intensity of the whole game experience, she just lost it. Kids running at her, parents yelling/cheering, a ball flying around…it was just too much for this sensitive spirit. So she sat out on the sidelines and tried to collect herself. Believe me, it was not easy. We had to do deep breathing exercises. Really Rilyn?!?

a team time-out with Rilyn still not so sure of this whole soccer thing

If you know James and I, you know compassion is not our strong suit and so we really didn’t get why she was so freaked out. After some serious encouragement from all of her adoring fans, (papaw, oma, aunt Mandy, Allen, grandpa, grandma, uncle Jeff, aunt Becca, cousin Caden, Ella, Asher, and of course mommy and daddy!!) she toughened up and got back in the game.

Evidence #1 of why Rilyn felt scared.  If I saw this dude

coming at me like this I would be scared too!

Evidence #2 of why Rilyn got scared.  It’s called being aggressive honey.

She did cheer up finally and I got some great shots of her having fun!

She is so excited to kick the ball in!  Thanks uncle Jeff for bringing your video camera!
Rilyn’s tongue out-the Paquette trait that means “I’m focused”

And what really cheered her up? She ‘technically’ scored the team’s last goal! I say ‘technically’ because she kicked it and then the opposing team accidentally helped it in their goal! 🙂 Nevertheless, she was excited, and I got this picture from it.

score!

it’s soccer time!

Well, it’s finally here!  Soccer season!  Rilyn had her first ever soccer practice Sunday afternoon.  Her team name is the ‘Teenie Texans’.  When I told her the team name, she wasn’t thrilled, but at least we aren’t the Longhorns, right?  (You can imagine how popular that team name is in Austin!)  Daddy had the honors of taking her and managed to get a few pictures for me (while trying to chase Asher!)  I had Sunday school duties at church.  When asked how she did, James said that she got a little ’emotional’ when they played the knockout drill and her ball got knocked out.  Both girls will have a lot to learn about competitive sports!  I’m sure they both will shed tears on the field!
